Currently there are seven
British Passport
Offices in the UK which are located throughout the country
and from which you can book an appointment in regards to reporting a lost
passport, applying for a new passport,
passport prices or
obtaining information on the fast track service which can be
used for urgent enquiries.
Many
Passport related issues can be
resolved over the telephone, by filling the correct form (which
can be obtained from major post offices) and so no personal
visits are required. Many people are unaware but for most
passport related issues you do need to book ahead and make an
appointment for your enquiry.
Depending on the time of year you may have
to wait a number of weeks to secure an appointment with your
local office and being that there are just over half a dozen
offices in the United Kingdom it is advised that you book well
in advance if going on holiday or out of the Country on
business.
Having said that there are occasions when
appointments and related travel document issues can be resolved
on a "fast
track" basis. Such services come at a premium and are
not always available however they can increase the speed of
resolving your travel related issue.
Passport Offices are
scattered throughout the United Kingdom and based in most of the
UK's major cities including London, Manchester, Glasgow,
Durham, Liverpool.

A
Pasport along with a
Driving Licence are the two most common tools used in
identification and so is a handy item to have even if not
often travelling Internationally. It can be used to open a
bank account, prove your age, prove your identification, prove
your citizenship in addition to serve many other purposes.
Should you lose your
passport whether abroad or in
the UK your first port of call should be to contact the local
authorities, once reported you will receive a Crime Reference
Number in which you must retain once you have reported the loss
or theft of your passport you should then fill in the
appropriate form to receive a replacement.
