If you have
lost your passport or
believe that it has been stolen then it is essential that you
report it to the Police if in the United Kingdom or to the local
authorities if abroad. It is your duty to do this to ensure that
you do everything you can to ensure that your
British Passport will not be
used in cases of Identity Fraud.
If your Identity is hijacked and for
example the person withdrawals money or opens a bank account etc
in your name and when you claim against the company saying that
it was not you who opened the account or spent money on the
goods the company or Fraud Prevention dpt may look unfavourably
on the fact that you did not report the loss of your passport in
a timely manner.

When reporting the
loss of your passport you
must complete a "Lost and Stolen Notification Form" which
is a
passport form also known as
a LS01 form which can be found in the high street and online.
There are certain
passport prices on renewing a
lost passport and stolen and these can be also found on the
official Identity and Passport Service's website.
There are standard and fast track passport
replacement methods for replacing a lost, stolen or
damaged passport, these
both have their own
passport fees and different
time scales. Depending on how quickly you need a replacement
will depend on which service is most suitable for you.
In regards to
Damaged Passports it does
depend on the extent of damage as to whether it remains suitable
for travel. For questions relating to damage we suggest that you
contact your local passport agency and outline exactly what
damage their is to it and whether it needs replacing before
leaving the UK. This goes for both adult and child's
passports and not just UK but
also Irish Passports and those from other countries.
